Low Friction Coatings

A fine automobile is the sum of its parts, a combination of design flair and engineering perfection.  The same is true of the flexible finishes made by Alpha Coatings for automotive sealing systems.

Our coatings are comprised of five basic ingredients :

  1. The resin system: The “adhesive” of the coating which chemically bonds it to the substrate (sealing system).
  2. The lubricants: The materials which impart the low-friction, freeze-release and low-noise characteristics, and contribute to the abrasion resistance of the final film.
  3. Pigments: The ingredients which give the coating its colour and gloss.   They also contribute to the weathering performance of the product.
  4. Carriers: The liquid portion of the coating which influences the application characteristics of the product.
  5. Additives: Materials utilised to enhance specific properties of the dry-film performance.

The selection of the materials in these five categories is carefully considered by our development chemists.   A significant amount of time is taken to screen potential raw materials before they are selected for use in a new formulation.   Our development chemists then blend these individual components together to form a matrix of engineering polymers.
