A customer in the automotive industry approached Alpha Coatings to apply an adhesvie coating to a rear quarter window glass for Rubber Encapsulation. Our customer chose Alpha Coatings because it is a difficult application and required precise processing of the coating. Each edge of the glass had a different dimension/tolerance to maintain. First we clean the material and then robotically apply the coating to both sides of the glass. The coated material is then run through a hot air oven, to help enhance the adhesion to the glass. The process was required to hold a tolerance of +0.5 mm / -1.0 mm on the circumference of the glass. The required dimensions ranged from 2.5mm to 42.5 mm. After performing extensive cure testing and dry film thickness (DFT) testing, we shipped the product to the customer in Mexico.
